Has anyone taken a Mac Computer technician course?
I want to know if taking a computer technicians course is worth the money and what kind of things I would learn in class.
So far I know how to take apart a computer and replace broken parts with working parts, diagnose a problem using the Apple hardware test, and install an OS on a new computer and after I’ve replaced a hard drive. My goal is to get my Apple certification by June.

If your goal is to be an Apple computer technician, then taking a computer technicians course is the way to go. You will learn many things. Software and hardware diagnostics (far beyond the AHT software), networking (LANS, WANS, Wireless) in both GUI and command line environments, component level repair, operating system software theory and flow charting and a whole lot more.
I have been working on Macs for the past 15 years and have learned a lot through particle experience and being fortunate enough to have had access to people that I could ask questions about things I didn’t understand about Macs. I could probably breeze through the Apple course with very little difficulty and if I had the money I would take it for one simple reason. The access to Apple technical data and support.
In taking and passing the Apple tech course, not only do you get to learn everything about Macs and how to work on them, you also get the support that comes along with the certification. If you decide to invest in the company by opening your own authorized repair facility, you also have access to there diagnostic equipment.
There are a lot of advantages to becoming an Apple tech. Is it worth the money? It can be. I have talked with many techs and I have had mixed reviews. I guess it just depends on where you live and the number of people in the community that have Macs. I live in an area where PCs are prevalent. If I were a Pc tech I would have lots of customers and probably would make a good living. As it is there are 2 Apple repair facilities that cover a 50 mile area and being that Macs are built the way they are, those techs are not the busiest in world.
Anyway, do some research into what it will take to become a tech. If it is what you want to do then it is definitely worth it.
