Virtual Real Worlds system specification.

Tele3DWorlds-Immersive virtual real worlds (VRWs) are inhabited by so-called avatars (manifestations of the user), that is the virtual representations of a human or other artefact that can act in six degrees of freedom inside the digitized virtual real world. Avatars can be created to emulate persons and as good or bad looking as you desire them, they can be neat, shaved, and alert; no matter what happened the previous night. Your avatar will always look the same, and can be dressed, customized, and characterized any number of ways. Additional helpers (bots) will provide assistance by describing pre-programmed information in the form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) i.e., providing additional instruction or description.

Here are some of the major VRW capabilities:

* Voice Technology: Integrated voice communications, including voice-over-IP technology to allow real-time chat with other users; voice recognition, allowing users to issue converse with the Computer controlled bots; and, text-to-voice conversion of typed chat. Voice chat includes 3D audio and EAX on supported sound cards, so players can sense/determine where voices and sounds emanate from.

* Characters: New and classic Avatar characters join Virtual Real Worlds to collaborate with other users, including the Martian and the infamous Bender.

* Maps: Many existing VRWs will be included with the basic 3D engine; these existing VRWs, feature; hi-res textures (photorealistic), hi-poly static meshes, sounds, and music with surround sound. However, new maps/avatars will be available for download from the http://www.Mellanium.com web site for a nominal sum (stores and malls are in development);

* VRWTV: A world broadcast system that allows for hundreds (millions via satellite TV) of people to view a real-time VRW experience with minimal performance impact on server, creating a television spectator sport like viewing environment for viewers to watch passively the progress of users within a VRW; the ability to join at any stage is also possible;

* Voting: Complete end-user voting system allows users to choose VRW, maps, mutators, rules, and settings and enable users/viewers to remove or ban troublesome avatars;

* User Interface: A designed user interface (UI) allows easy navigation and supports context-sensitive menus, a VRW login menu, and a server browser with server filtering options. The underlying user interface system enables users to build menus and implement their own UI designs.

* VRW Editor: Tele3DWorld VRWs will be equipped with a suite of powerful creation tool-sets the same software the developers used to develop the VRWs. Amateur VRW designers can use the Editor, including the “Matinee” or filmmaking tool, to make their own maps, new modes, and animated movies.

A data base of pre-programmed artifacts will be made available for registered members to enable the creation of your own individual VRWs.

Hardware specification:

* Pentium III or AMD Athlon 2.0 GHz processor (Pentium® or AMD 2.0GHz or greater recommended);

* 512MB RAM (1GB RAM or greater recommended);

* 1.5GB HDD space REQUIRED;

* 8X CD-ROM or DVD;

* Windows® compatible sound card;

* 64 MB video card required (256 MB NVIDIA or ATI hardware T&L card recommended);

* DirectX® version 9.0c;

* Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported. Internet play requires a 56 kbps or faster modem (broadband recommended).

Unreal Engine 3 has a transitional multithreaded architecture. Running two heavyweight threads, and a pool of helper threads. The primary thread is responsible for running UnrealScript AI and gameplay logic and networking. The secondary thread is responsible for all rendering work. The pool of helper threads accelerate additional modular tasks such as physics, data decompression, and streaming. Therefore, UE3 runs significantly faster on CPUs which support two or more high-performance threads. This includes dual-core Intel and AMD Pc CPUs. Beyond two cores or hardware threads, UE3 performance continues to scale up, as the additional threads accelerate physics and decompression work. However, not all scenes are performance-bound by such things, so there are diminishing returns as you go beyond 4 cores.
It is also recommended that you only need 512MB of graphics memory for good performance.
